This page explains what information BidByU collects, why, and who we share it with.

What we collect

• Account info: your name, email, and password (stored securely), or your Google sign-in.
• Location: your ZIP code and pickup location, so we can show nearby listings.
• Listings and activity: photos, descriptions, bids, purchases, ratings, messages, and pickup times.
• Vehicle info: the VIN, mileage, and details you enter when listing a vehicle. VINs are shown on the listing.
• Payment info: handled by Stripe. BidByU does not see or store your full card or bank numbers.
• Device info: basic technical data like browser type, and push notification settings if you turn them on.

How we use it

• To run the marketplace: show listings, process bids and payments, set up pickups, and send notifications.
• To keep BidByU safe: prevent fraud, block prohibited items, and review reports.
• To improve the site.

Who we share it with

• Other users: your display name, ratings, listings, and general pickup area. Buyers and sellers in a sale can message each other.
• Service providers: Stripe (payments), Supabase (hosting and database), and OpenAI (only the listing details you choose to send to the AI description writer).
• VIN lookup: when you type a VIN, it is sent to the free NHTSA (U.S. government) VIN decoder to fill in the year, make, and model.
• The law: if required by law or to protect people from harm.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

• You can update your profile and turn notifications on or off at any time.
• You can ask us to delete your account. We may keep some sale records as required for taxes and payments.

Kids

BidByU is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new version here.
